“Why because it’s simple, has no refined sugar, repurposes leftovers (in my case), has immunity boosting ingredients, AND is lip-smacking good!”
I am no fan of “smoothie bowls” because they usually contain more than your recommended daily dose of sugar in one serving – which is something all of us should be aware of and those of us living with #type1diabetes must be.
So…it’s late Thanksgiving morning and I was getting hungry. I paged through my favorite reference for smoothie recipes and didn’t find what I was looking for, so WELLA this recipe was born. I did not reach for my phone to Google it and even now, I’m writing this post on my computer. I’m aiming for a phone-free day, but I digress. Here’s the BEST pumpkin smoothie recipe…how do I know it’s the best? Because I had to fight back my culinary commando husband while I (hastily) capturing this photo.
Ingredients:
- 1 c. frozen pumpkin (mine was recently thawed and a bit slushy)
- 1 frozen banana
- ~ 1/4 c. half and half (add more/less for desired consistency or substitute non-dairy option).
- Following doTERRA essential oils (only oils I ingest; purity matters)
1 Clove (optional)
1 Cinnamon
1 OnGuard
Instructions:
Blend. This recipe made 16 oz.
Serve with coconut flakes, pecans, and top with a pinch of pumpkin pie spice.
